A Rail Systems Engineer with over 10 years of expertise in rail and transit planning and rail network design and simulation, Aleksandra (Aleks) has led rail network planning projects ranging from light rail to heavy rail networks and in both brownfield and greenfield environments. Aleks offers Boxfish clients a broad range of expertise including signal design, schedule development, infrastructure design, modeling/simulation and integration of street traffic on LRT rail network, and operational assessment and Monte Carlo sensitivity analysis. This expertise is supported by expert software knowledge across a range of applications including CN’s Signal Wake Model and Train Performance Calculator, Rail Traffic Controller, SYSTRA RAILSIM and AutoCAD.

Rebecca brings a wide range of international transportation planning experience, including on projects in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, to her role at Boxfish. Her wealth of experience is supported by extensive technical skills in data analytics, programming languages and applications, including Python, R, ArcGIS, Synchro, My SQL and AWS.

John has over 25 years operational rail experience including roles as de facto Chief Controller for the UK rail industry, a member of the UK Strategic National Team responsible for designing, writing and implementing Rail Rules and Operational Procedures. John provided the Strategic Operational lead for delivery of the £18 billion electrification and re-signalling of the main line from London to Wales. John was also Director of Railway Operations and Standards for a major Canadian construction company.

A recent graduate of the Civil Engineering program at the University of Waterloo, Matea brings excellent knowledge of traffic simulation and modeling to her role at Boxfish where she has been focused on providing modeling and analysis for the Eglinton LRT and GO Expansion projects. An expert user of OpenTrack, VISSIM and VISTRO, Matea produces various data outputs for a broad range of rail project types. Matea’s recent experience at Boxfish has included work in rail network design and simulation, schedule development, and transit system planning.

A versatile manager and commercial leader, Amjad has extensive experience delivering complex, major infrastructure projects across Canada. Working in collaboration with legal and technical specialists, Amjad has developed terms and overseen over thirty transactions that include: TOD, DBFO/M, DBF, CM, DB, DBB and Unit-Price contracts.

Amjad was recently seconded to the Metrolinx GO Expansion Project as the Commercial Lead for the GO Stations Capital Delivery portfolio of projects. With a capital value in excess of $2.5 Billion, Amjad provides guidance on all commercial matters across the portfolio, from pre-transaction to implementation.

Name Mark Batten-Carew

A creative, strategic thinker, Mark brings over 40 years of experience in the technology sector spanning the delivery of complex data modeling and simulations, commercial analysis, technical research, software integration, software product development, data security and policy development. For almost 20 years, Mark has provided a wide range of rail modeling and simulation work for Boxfish and other clients, including large-scale data analysis, financial modeling, commercial forecasting, engineering, and railway simulation.

Fitra is a recent graduate of Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto with expertise in financial modelling, simulation, statistics, and data analytics. Her strength lies in Operations Research, where she utilizes various analytical methods to provide quantitative bases for complex problem solving and decision making. Fitra’s recent work involved developing the scoring mechanisms for the GO Expansion Procurement and Calgary LRT Procurement, the payment regimes to be used in the GO Expansion Project, and providing simulation and data analysis support to the Strategic Train Service Planning team at Metrolinx.

A Rail Systems Engineer with over a decade of professional experience, Darius brings a broad range of expertise in transit system planning, rail network design and simulation to his role at Boxfish. Darius’s experience includes schedule development, infrastructure design of rail networks, modeling/simulation of rail networks, integration of street traffic on LRT rail networks, turnaround and headway analysis and modeling of railway electrification systems. Darius is also expertly knowledgeable in various software such as Rail Traffic Controller, SYSTRA RAILSIM, OpenTrack, Simpack, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
